Before You Begin
Mimo is an equal opportunity employer committed to finding and retaining top talent, regardless of who you are or where you come from. We seek individuals who think creatively, act decisively, and are resilient in the face of challenges. A start-up environment isn't for everyone, and that's okay. It can be hectic, so we need individuals who are comfortable handling uncertainties. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, solving problems on the go, and actively contributing to the foundations of a company on the rise, keep reading and show us why you'd be a great fit.
What is Mimo?
Mimo; Money-in and Money-out, was founded in early 2023 to become the one tool for global payments, cash flow management & financing. Mimo empowers small to medium businesses to save time and money, with full control of their finances. Since the beginning, we've maintained high velocity, released a private beta, expanded to +15 team members, and secured funding from elite angels and top institutional investors. However, we've only just begun.
What will I be doing?
A start-up environment is dynamic and requires flexibility. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with diverse problem areas, products, features, and roles. We seek someone to support two core Mimo functions: Credit and Operations.
It's a great way to understand the business comprehensively, serving as a launchpad for future career development and further specialisation within the fintech space. We believe that gaining experience across different functions is crucial for career growth at Mimo.
Credit
The credit function involves issuing credit lines to Mimo customers, monitoring their performance, and ensuring timely repayment of credit facilities. While there is more to it, this broadly encapsulates the primary activities within the credit function.
Responsibilities: Evaluate creditworthiness and assist Mimo’s Head of Credit in developing Mimo’s credit architecture, processes, and policies.
Key Questions: How do we issue the right amount of credit to the right customer? How can we scale this process effectively?
Skills Required: Proficiency in SQL, Python, and the Google Suite is beneficial. The credit function involves significant quantitative analysis, so comfort with numerical problems is essential.
Operations
The operations function encompasses various internal responsibilities, including customer onboarding, customer support, HR operations, and payment operations. The goal of Operations is to ensure that Mimo runs smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities: Work with Mimo’s Head of Operations to ensure top-notch customer support, swift but safe customer onboarding (including AML & KYB processes), and continual improvement of internal support tools & processes.
Training: You will receive training and support from colleagues to ensure you become well-versed in the company's operations. The goal is to develop a broad knowledge base before specialising in a particular area.
By starting with a broad understanding and then specialising, you will be well-equipped for future career development at Mimo.
Who You Are
We are looking for someone analytical, business-minded, ambitious, and fun, with a passion for diving into a career in fintech. You have a gritty startup mentality and a keen interest in the intersection of finance, data, technology, and the operational challenges required for a fintech to thrive.
To succeed in this role, you will need the following:
A Master’s degree in finance, business, economics, engineering, mathematics or statistics.
Proficiency in analysing financial statements with a core understanding of what drives risks
Proficiency in working with data using SQL and Python, or similar tools such as R and Matlab, as well as other coding languages.
Relevant work experience.
You are likely in the early stages of your career, with prior professional experience in a related industry, business, or sector. You are curious about the fintech & startup space and eager to make an impact. Alternatively, you might be a recent graduate excited to start your career with us, having gained relevant experience through part-time work or similar activities.
We will adapt the role to match the applicant's qualifications, as we value core mindset, ambition, humour and potential above all.
Most Importantly
We prioritise attitude and potential over formal qualifications. If you can demonstrate that you are the best candidate for this role, you will be hired. We are looking for someone who can grow with us for the long term.
What We Offer
Founding Team: Join a small, highly skilled team of product builders.
Compensation: We offer a competitive salary.
Vacation: Enjoy six weeks of annual paid vacation.
Stock Options: Benefit from our generous stock option programme.
